All You Need for German Math Olympiad
PLEASE DO NOT START THE EXAM WITHOUT READING THE FAQ BELOW!
Dear Participants, Below you will find answers to the most common questions you may have during the exam. If your question is already listed here, please do not send an email. Follow all steps exactly as described. If your problem is not resolved after following the instructions, you may contact us by email. Please include the student ID and full name. ([email protected])
Q1: Where can I start my exam? I didn’t receive a link. Log in to your German Math student panel. Click the “START EXAM” button on your exam card. Do not click the “START EXAM” button before reading all the instructions and making sure that you are ready.
Q2: Can I join the exam using a smartphone or tablet? A smartphone or tablet is not recommended for the exam, as screen sharing will not work and the camera may block your view of the questions. You may select “Continue without screen sharing and camera recording” in the Qualification Exam. Smartphones and tablets are strictly prohibited during the Final Exam.
Q3: Can I enter the exam at any time on 26 September 2026? Yes. You can enter the exam at any time during the 24-hour exam period. However, once you start the exam, you will have only 60 minutes to complete it.
Q4: Can I register on the exam day? Yes. For exams with a 24-hour window, you can register and join on the same day.
Q5: I cannot access the homepage or student panel, so I cannot access the exam. What should I do? First, make sure your internet connection is working properly. If your connection is stable, try logging in again after 15 minutes. International internet traffic may sometimes cause temporary delays.
Q6: I received a “Page unresponsive” message. This usually means that your device or browser is having difficulty running the exam smoothly. Try refreshing the page or closing other applications and browser tabs. If the problem continues, try using another device. You may also use your phone as an external camera while taking the exam on another device.
Q7: I cannot activate my camera or screen sharing. Refresh your browser and try again. If the problem continues, close and reopen your browser, then reconnect to the exam. Make sure your browser has permission to access your camera and share your screen.
Q8: What should I do if questions are not loading, the screen is frozen or I cannot select an answer? Close all other tabs and applications, leaving only the exam tab open. Check your internet connection and make sure it is stable. Refresh the exam page and try again. If the issue continues, switch to a different internet connection, such as a mobile hotspot. If the problem still persists, do not submit the exam. Close your browser and log in again using Incognito/Private Mode.
Q9: I rejoined the exam and the message “Continue Here” appeared. What does it mean? This message means that the exam is already open in another browser tab or on another device. Click “Continue Here” to continue the exam. Do not delay, as your exam time continues to run.
Q10: I entered the exam and saw less than 60 minutes remaining. Why? This happens only if you previously clicked the “Start Exam” button. If you are not fully ready, do not click "Start Exam.” Once the exam begins, the 60-minute timer cannot be paused or stopped.
Q11: My account shows “Participated”, but I did not solve questions or submit the exam. Why? An exam is marked as “Participated” only in the following two cases: - The “Start Exam” button was clicked and the 60-minute exam duration ended. - The “Submit Exam” button was clicked. The exam cannot be marked as “Participated” automatically without one of these actions.
Q12: The timer is not running and the answer counter is not updating. This usually happens because of browser auto-translation tools, other programs running in the background or an unstable internet connection. Make sure your internet connection is stable and disable or close all such tools and programs before starting the exam. Then refresh the exam page and try again.
Q13: If my device runs out of battery or the power goes out during the exam, will I lose time when I reconnect later? Yes. The timer continues to run even if the device loses power or becomes disconnected. The exam cannot be paused or stopped, so any time that passes while disconnected will be deducted from the remaining exam time.
Q14: If I get a tab error, will I lose points? Typically, 0.5 points are deducted for each tab error. Minor tab errors may occur due to camera or screen-sharing settings. After the exam, the system reviews each participant’s tab-error statistics. There is no need to send emails explaining tab errors.
Q15: I did not click ‘Submit Exam’ button, but the exam closed. Are my answers saved? Yes. Answers are automatically saved every 30 seconds as long as the internet connection is stable. A device shutdown or loss of internet connection will not delete answers that have already been saved.
Q16: Can I update my grade level during the exam period? No. Grade level changes are not allowed during the exam period.
Q17: I forgot my password and I am not receiving the verification code. Check your Spam/Junk folder and make sure your inbox is not full.
Q18: The system does not accept my email or “Forgot Password” is not working. Make sure you are using the email address registered in the MTO database. Check for typing mistakes, such as extra spaces, incorrect letters, or Caps Lock being enabled.
Q19: When will the results be announced? The results will be announced 12 days after the exam.
